Indian Troop Fired "Proactive" Shots In Border Dispute

In recent big news, China has accused India of illegally crossing a disputed border. Firstly, Indian Troops fired proactive warning shots at patrolling soldiers and Chinese guards. Thereafter, the Chinese took solid countermeasures. Statement by a military spokesperson, though it is not clear what they were.

This is the first time in 45 years that shots were fired. Certainly, breaking an agreement barring firearm use. Moreover, the relationship between both countries has steadily deteriorated in recent months. According to state media outlet the Global Times –
Indian troops had illegally crossed the “line of actual control.” Entering Shenpao mountain region near the south bank of Pangong Tso Lake. Statement by a spokesperson of the People’s Liberation Army.

“India’s moves seriously volatile related agreements reached by both sides.” “Stirred up tension in the region… and it very vile in nature,” said Mr. Zhang.

Indian authorities have yet to respond to the current situation.

As per the 1996 agreement between both countries. There is a bar on the use of guns and explosives. Furthermore, at LAC ( line of actual control) soldiers have clashed there before.

The PLA spokesperson also called on the Indian side to “immediately stop dangerous moves”.
“Withdraw personnel who crossed the LAC.. and punish the person who fired the proactive shorts.”

Furthermore Indian military alerted Chinese officials of five Indian civilians. Civilians from an area near the disputed border, kidnapped by Chinese troops.

Tension rose in June. Around 20 soldiers KIA in a violent skirmish with Chinese forces. Local media outlets said that soldiers were “beaten to death”. In August, India accused China of provoking military tension. The dispute occurred twice within one week. On the other hand, China denied both charges. Adding that the border standoff was entirely India’s fault. The line of actual control is poorly demarcated. The presence of rivers, lakes, and snow cap means the line can shift.
The soldiers are on either side represent two of the world’s largest armies. Coming face-to-face at many points. India has accused China of sending thousands of troops in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. China occupies 38,000 square kilometers of its territory. Several rounds of talks in the last few decades have failed to resolve the boundary dispute.
