Cleveland Browns standout running back Nick Chubb injured his knee against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. After the game, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski declared Chubb unfit for the season.
Rapoport said that Chubb is likely to have damaged multiple ligaments. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski acknowledged Chubb would be sidelined for the season, but he did not confirm ligament damage without imaging, which is scheduled for Tuesday.
“Obviously, Nick has a very bad knee injury,” Stefanski said after the game, “which makes you feel bad for the guy.” “His football skills are well-known, but his character is even better. As a result, we’ll support him throughout.”
After Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick hit Chubb low during a second-quarter run, his left knee twisted in. Chubb quickly grabbed his leg before medical staff helped him. He was then carried away on a stretcher and soon removed from the game. The play was so horrible that no repeats were shown on the TV broadcast.
Steelers fans cheered “Chubb” as the running back, who looked upset, was carried off the field.
Chubb tore the PCL, the MCL, and the LCL in his left knee when he was in college at Georgia. He hurt the same knee on Monday.
Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler who has also amassed 1,000 rushing yards in each of the previous four seasons, epitomizes reliability. The 27-year-old was well on his way to another spectacular season with 106 yards on the ground in Week 1 over the Cincinnati Bengals and 64 yards on ten tries on Monday.
Running back Jerome Ford caught a 3-yard touchdown after Chubb exited. Ford ran the ball 16 times for 106 yards, mostly 69 yards. Ford and others must perform better to replace Chubb, who hardly missed over four games in an NFL season.
Chubb, a quiet destroyer on the field, has been Cleveland’s engine since his rookie year in 2018. Even though Chubb is quiet, he gets along in the Browns locker room and throughout the league. This is clear from the overflow of support on social media after he was hurt. The Browns will have a hard time moving on without Chubb, and it’s safe to say that Cleveland will need to get back on track after losing two games on Monday night.
