Surprise Inauguration is a “Thieves Meeting”, Belarus Opposition Said.

President Alexander Lukashenko took his oath during one of the unannounced inauguration ceremony. This ceremony occurred in Minsk on 23rd September 2020.

Firstly, Lukashenko is now President. Belarusian leader became President amid protest and global situation.

Certainly, the state press service released all images of the unannounced ceremony. President assumed office during this ceremony at Minsk’s Palace of Independence. In short! There was no prior notice of the event. Even local journalists and opposition activists got caught in a surprise.

On the other hand, the opposition described this ceremony as a “Thieves meeting”. Opposition council, set up to facilitate a transfer of power. Moreover, urged members of the international community to support.

This morning Alexander appointed himself the President. Belarusian did not vote for him in the presidential election for the Republic Of Belarus. Furthermore, this farce can hardly be called an election. A statement by the board of coordination council.

We call on EU, Great Britain, The USA, Canada, China, and Russia to take a clear position. Recognize Lukashenko illegitimate and consider recalling.

 

On Wednesday, the US rejected the legitimacy of Lukashenko’s win. The US cannot consider Lukashenko as a legitimate leader.

August 9 elections were neither free nor fair. On the other hand, announced results did not convey legitimacy. Lukashenko declared as ‘landslide’ winner of the August voting.

Additionally, thousands of protesters believe that polls were rigged. Also, they took on the streets in a mass demonstration.

Opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya share “this so-called unannounced inauguration is a farce”.

Lukashenko attempts to preserve his legitimacy. But, only ended up pointing on the fact that his previous authority has ended. Pavel Latushko accused Lukashenko of the unannounced inauguration.

Today, there is an atmosphere of secrecy, it is a narrowing circle. Alexander Lukashenko, since 1994, assumed office for the sixth consecutive term.
